I have played several HD movies, mainly my own stuff I have taken of the family, via a WD Passport external drive, and they all play beautifully. I’ve even told others how much better this device plays them than my prior WD HD media player did. I already had my 500GB Western Digital hard drive installed in my MacBook and just used my 320GB external drive to make the pictures. I had the problem that my WD MyBook essential 1TB external hard drive was recognized and displayed by Windows 7, but always got error messages about corrupted file systems.
